Breaking: England Announces Squad Changes Ahead of First Test; Robinson to Lead Pace Attack

Breaking News: England Cricket Team Updates

England’s cricket management has announced the squad for the upcoming Test series. Fast bowler Ollie Robinson has been named captain of Sussex and has led the team to three wins in five matches, taking 17 wickets and scoring a century against Surrey.

Robinson will join fellow pace bowlers Josh Tongue, Gus Atkinson, Matthew Fisher, and 23-year-old Baker in the squad. Jofra Archer is currently participating in the Indian Premier League and will miss the first two Tests, while Brydon Carse is recovering from a wrist injury.

Atkinson has been included despite suffering a concussion last weekend, while Fisher has been called up after previously playing one Test against the West Indies in 2022. Baker, who struggled in earlier international matches, has shown strong performance this season with Hampshire.

Opener Zak Crawley has been dropped after averaging 30.52 over 104 innings. Durham’s Gay is expected to open alongside Ben Duckett after scoring three centuries this season. He has previously played for Italy in T20s.

The squad will meet for a training camp at Loughborough on May 22, ahead of the first Test.
