Breaking News: Bear Attack at Fukushima Steel Works
Four people have sustained minor to moderate injuries in a bear attack at Fukushima Steel Works in Japan.
Emergency services responded quickly after receiving a call from the steel works. Police and fire department officials arrived at the scene in the Sasakino district.
Security camera footage shows a black bear chasing an employee near the entrance. The bear knocked the employee to the ground before running toward a building on the premises.
As of Tuesday evening, authorities have not yet captured the bear. It is believed to be hiding inside a building at the steel works.
Japan is home to two types of bears: Asian black bears and larger brown bears found on Hokkaido.
In 2025, Japan recorded a high number of bear-related fatalities.
