Breaking: Trump to Pressure China on Iranian Oil Purchases During Beijing Meetings Amid Ongoing Iran Conflict

Breaking News: Trump to Discuss Iran and China Relations

Donald Trump is scheduled to arrive in Beijing on Wednesday evening for talks with President Xi Jinping. The discussions will focus on the ongoing war in Iran and other key issues.

White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly announced that an opening ceremony and meetings will take place on Thursday morning. Trump’s trip will conclude on Friday, with plans for a reciprocal visit from Xi later this year.

Kelly emphasized the trip’s importance in rebalancing U.S.-China relations, aiming for fairness and economic independence. This visit was previously postponed due to the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran.

A senior administration official indicated that Trump may apply pressure on China regarding its oil purchases from Iran. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent accused China of funding Iran, which he labeled as the largest state sponsor of terrorism.

Amid the conflict, Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, impacting global energy transport. China has expressed a desire for peace but does not acknowledge U.S. sanctions on Iran’s oil sector.

Business leaders from Boeing and agricultural companies are expected to accompany Trump. No changes to U.S. policy on Taiwan are anticipated during these discussions.
