England Edges Out Argentina 31-24 in Controversial Nations Championship Clash

Argentina faced England in round three of the Nations Championship on Saturday, with England winning 31-24 in a tense match in Santiago del Estero.

Argentina scored three tries from Carreras, a penalty try, and Piccardo. Albornoz converted two tries and added a penalty.

England’s tries came from Freeman, Earl (2), M. Smith, and Feyi-Waboso. F. Smith converted three tries.

The match ended controversially when Argentina’s Bautista Delguy scored a last-minute try. Referee Angus Gardner initially awarded the try, but the television match official ruled that Delguy was out of bounds, leading to the try being disallowed.

The match featured seven yellow cards, with England receiving four in the second half. England was down to 13 players at times during the game.

Despite the loss, Argentina wore replicas of their football team’s 1986 World Cup kit, adding a unique touch to the match. England’s victory marks their second consecutive win in the tournament.
