Breaking News: Increased Espionage Activity Concerns Pentagon
The Pentagon’s intelligence agency has raised the threat level regarding Israeli spying from “high” to “critical.” This change follows concerns about aggressive surveillance tactics amid the ongoing US-Israeli war with Iran.
Reports from NBC News and The New York Times indicate that the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is worried about Israel’s efforts to monitor key US officials. These actions are believed to be aimed at understanding US discussions on ending the conflict, which began on February 28.
US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu have publicly disagreed on how to handle the war. Trump has expressed a desire to end the conflict, while Netanyahu has called for its continuation despite a ceasefire announced on April 8.
The reports suggest that Israel’s spying activities have intensified since late 2024, coinciding with increased US pressure on Israel. Intelligence assessments indicate that Israeli efforts to surveil Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and other Pentagon officials have also been noted.
An unnamed spokesperson for the Pentagon has denied the reports, labeling them as “false.” However, the situation raises concerns about US-Israeli intelligence cooperation.
