Founded in 1979, Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to combating hunger worldwide. With a commitment to humanitarian principles—independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, direct access to victims, professionalism, and transparency—we have been saving lives for over 45 years. Our mission focuses on eradicating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, especially in emergency situations caused by conflicts and natural disasters. In 2024, we assisted over 26 million people across 57 countries, coordinating our programs in seven key areas: Nutrition and Health, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Food Security and Livelihoods, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, Advocacy, Climate, and Research.
Mission
This position is a dual role, equally divided between the International NGOs Forum in the Democratic Republic of Congo (FONGI) and Action Against Hunger (ACF). The primary objective is to enhance collective and organizational advocacy efforts through coordinated engagement, data-driven messaging, and strategic communication with key stakeholders. The Advocacy Officer will report to the Country Director of ACF and work closely with the FONGI Secretariat.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to ACF’s advocacy initiatives in the DRC (50% of the role).
- Assist in coordinating and implementing advocacy actions for the International NGOs Forum (50% of the role).
Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A graduate degree in social sciences, international relations, humanitarian law, political science, development studies, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in political analysis, advocacy strategy, and lobbying.
- Previous experience in a similar role coordinating advocacy actions in complex and prolonged humanitarian crises.
- Strong skills in implementing advocacy strategies and creating high-quality advocacy and communication materials.
- Knowledge of the DRC is an advantage.
- Excellent listening, collaboration, multi-stakeholder relationship-building, and decision-making skills under tight deadlines.
- Strong management and leadership capabilities, along with analytical skills.
- Proficiency in written and spoken French and English.
Employment Conditions
- Vaccination against Mpox is recommended for employees traveling to this country.
- Fixed-term contract under French law: 6 months.
- Gross monthly salary: €2,597 to €2,968, depending on experience, including a 13th month.
- Retirement insurance reimbursement for non-French citizens: 16% of gross monthly salary.
- Base salary increase: 6% every 12 months of continuous contract.
- Monthly per diem and living expenses: $1,105 net, paid on the ground.
- Monthly contextual allowance: €450.
- Child allowance: €1,500 per year per child residing in the home country (maximum of €6,000 per year).
- Transportation and housing: Coverage for travel and collective accommodation.
- Medical Coverage: 100% coverage for health insurance contributions, medical expenses, and repatriation insurance, valid until one month after the contract ends.
- Salary maintenance provisions (sick leave, maternity, paternity).
- Leave and RnR: 25 days of annual leave and 20 RnR days; travel costs covered for breaks, with a €215 allowance per RnR.
