Breaking News: Reece James Expected to Play in World Cup Quarter-Final
England manager Thomas Tuchel has announced that Reece James is expected to be available for the World Cup quarter-final against Norway on Saturday at 22:00 BST.
The team faces a right-back crisis after Jarell Quansah received a red card during Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Mexico, resulting in his suspension for the upcoming match in Miami.
James has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the second group match against Ghana and has missed subsequent games against Panama, DR Congo, and Mexico. However, there is hope that he will return to full training this week.
Following Quansah’s red card in the 54th minute against Mexico, Ezri Konsa, who has played as a centre-back in all of England’s matches, was moved to right wing-back.
Throughout the tournament, multiple players, including Djed Spence, John Stones, and Declan Rice, have filled the right-sided defender role. Tino Livramento is also unavailable due to a calf injury.
The potential return of James is seen as positive news, as he is recognized as England’s first-choice right-back.
