Breaking News: Law Student Charged with Possession of Explosives
A 25-year-old law student, Isobella Perrie Sullivan, appeared in court today, charged with possessing explosives. Sullivan, from Abbeylands Park in Clane, County Kildare, was arrested after a bomb was found in a car she was driving.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when gardaí (Irish police) intercepted the vehicle near Carrickmacross, County Monaghan. A defense solicitor stated that Sullivan was asked to transport a bag to Northern Ireland and was unaware of its contents.
Gardaí confirmed that the interception was part of an operation targeting dissident republican activity. Sullivan was brought before a special sitting of Trim District Court in County Meath on Friday evening.
During the court proceedings, a member of the Garda Special Detective Unit reported that the car was stopped on the N2 at Aclint, south of Carrickmacross. The case is ongoing, and further details are expected as the investigation continues.
