Founded in 1979, Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to combating hunger worldwide. Our humanitarian principles—independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, direct access to victims, professionalism, and transparency—have shaped our identity for over 45 years. Our mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, particularly in emergency situations arising from conflicts and natural disasters. We coordinate our programs across seven key areas: Nutrition and Health, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Food Security and Livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Advocacy, Climate, and Research. In 2024, we assisted over 26 million people in 57 countries.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Program Coordinator to oversee Action Against Hunger’s interventions in the Ouaddai, Sila, and Wadi-Fira provinces. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating the implementation of Action Against Hunger’s strategy in your designated area.
- Overseeing the execution of programs in the Sila and Ouaddai provinces.
- Supervising teams within your area of responsibility.
- Facilitating communication and relationships with coordination teams.
- Representing Action Against Hunger and managing relationships with partners, authorities, UN agencies, and NGOs in your area.
- Ensuring timely reporting and effective communication.
- Maintaining safety and security protocols in your operational zone.
- Conducting frequent field visits to monitor activities and progress.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree (BAC+4/5) in a field related to humanitarian action, such as international relations, political science, international cooperation, or a technical background relevant to our sectors.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in managing humanitarian or development projects, ideally in a similar role or with Action Against Hunger.
- Significant experience in team management and security in a comparable context.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work autonomously and adapt in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent management and leadership abilities, along with strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in written and spoken French and English.
Employment Conditions
- Fixed-term contract under French law: 6 months, until December 31, 2026.
- Gross monthly salary: €2,597 to €2,968, depending on experience, including a 13th-month payment.
- Retirement insurance reimbursement for non-French citizens: 16% of gross monthly salary.
- Base salary increase: 6% every 12 months of continuous contract.
- Monthly per diem and living expenses: €838 net, paid on-site.
- Monthly contextual allowance: €300.
- Child allowance: €1,500 per year for each child residing in the home country (maximum €6,000/year).
- Transportation and accommodation: Coverage for travel and shared housing.
- Medical coverage: 100% of health insurance contributions and medical expenses, including repatriation insurance, for up to one month after contract termination.
- Salary maintenance provisions (sick leave, maternity, paternity).
- Leave and R&R: 25 days of annual leave and 20 R&R days per year; travel expenses covered to the chosen break area, with a €215 flat fee per R&R.
